Richard Trillo/Africa, writing, PR

I am the Kenya Programme Manager for Expert Africa – an award-winning UK-based tour operator specialising in tailor-made trips to East and Southern Africa. We only offer trips to countries we know really well and then only to areas and accommodation where we ourselves have stayed.

In 1985 I founded the Africa Desk at STA Travel  in London, which I managed for three years. From 1990 to 2006 I was Director of Communications at the travel guides publisher Rough Guides. Between 2006 and 2012 I was a freelance writer, editor and PR Consultant and I still find a little time for freelance work.

As well as having a career in tourism, publishing and PR, I have nearly forty years of travel experience in Africa – my first trip, hitchhiking to Timbuktu, was in 1977. I’m the author of the Rough Guides to Kenya, West Africa and Madagascar, and co-author of the Rough Guide to First-Time Africa.

There’s more biographical info about me here and here.
